Digital Hospitals in Combating Drug Addiction within the Context of Digital Public Goods in Türkiye

Abstract

The number of addicted individuals, which leads to a decrease in social welfare, is steadily
increasing, and 2026 has been declared the Year of Independence in Turkey. In line with this,
within the framework of the National Drug Control Strategy Document and Action Plan covering
the years 2024-2028, the Ministry of National Education has been selected as the primary
responsible party for efforts to reduce drug use rates and is seen to be collaborating with many
institutions. This study emphasizes the importance of faster and wider dissemination of services,
particularly in education and healthcare, in the context of digitalization, in preventing negative
externalities, and highlights the impact of education policies in combating addiction. Expanding
the scope of digital hospitals and addiction prevention training within the framework of
education and health services has proven to be quite effective.
