Abstract

The increasingly competitive environment has made the accuracy of performance data and the
fairness of evaluation processes more critical in businesses. Accordingly, the main objective of
this study is to reveal the effect of the 360-degree feedback method, one of the contemporary
performance evaluation methods, on the organizational commitment levels of employees.
Organizational commitment was examined in terms of emotional, normative, and continuance
commitment dimensions, and employees' aPitudes towards the company were evaluated. Within
the scope of a quantitative and correlational (cross-sectional) research design, data was collected
from 204 employees working in service businesses operating in Sakarya, Kocaeli, and Istanbul
provinces. The obtained data were analyzed using Kruskal-Wallis and Spearman’s Rho analyses.
The findings show that the 360-degree feedback method has no significant effect on continuance
commitment, but it does have an effect on emotional and normative commitment. Furthermore,
a positive relationship was found between performance evaluation and organizational
commitment. These results demonstrate that fair and effective performance evaluation systems
play an important role in strengthening employee commitment.
