Abstract

Perceived partner responsiveness, defined as the processes of perceiving the understanding,
value, and caring behaviors of partners towards each other, has many positive effects on
relational and individual processes. It is known that perceiving one's partner as responsive is
related to individuals' happiness, relationship functioning, physical health, and even their
lifetime. It is possible that perceived partner responsiveness, which has numerous positive
outcomes, can be predicted by various variables related to partners. The purpose of this review
article is to examine the relationship between perceived partner responsiveness and the partner's
listening behavior. In this context, studies on perceived partner responsiveness were examined
first; then studies relating this concept to listening behavior were also examined. As a result of
the examination, it was concluded that the partners' listening behavior had an impact on the
perceived partner responsiveness, but this effect was not adequately addressed in the literature.
Based on this, suggestions are made for future research.
