Opinions of Classroom Teachers on the Use of Educational Games in Teaching Science Lessons at School

Abstract

This study includes teachers' views on the use of educational games in teaching sciences. The research was conducted with 25 classroom teachers working in the 3rd and 4th grades in Samsun İlkadım in the 2022-2023 academic year. In the research, data were collected with a semistructured interview form prepared by the researcher, and the obtained data were evaluated with content analysis. According to the research findings, it has been seen that the teachers used educational games in the science lesson and found them useful and necessary. However, it has been understood that there are difficulties in the use of educational games due to high number of students in classrooms, inadequacy of the classroom environment, lack of materials, lack of time, and not to find educational games suitable for learning outcomes. In this context, some suggestions were made to the teachers.
