Abstract

The aim of this study is to examine the opinions of school administrators working in schools at different levels about work-life balance and its results. In the study, which is within the scope of the qualitative research approach and phenomenology model, the data were obtained from 15 school principals and assistant principals working in schools in the city center of Batman in the 2022-2023 academic year. A semistructured interview form was used to obtain the data. The interview form was prepared by the researchers based on the literature findings. The obtained data were analyzed using qualitative content analysis. At the end of the study, it was seen that long working hours, low wages, high workload, insufficient personnel and physical conditions were organizational factors affecting the work-life balance of the participants, while marital status, gender and personality structure were the individual factors affecting the work-life balance of the participants. It has been determined that ensuring work-life balance results in happiness, work engagement and role performance, while work-life imbalance causes stress, inefficiency, role conflict, insomnia and absenteeism.
