Investigation of the Relationship of Paternalist Leadership or Open and Relationship-Focused Leadership Styles and Employees’ Perceptions of Corporate Governance

Abstract
It is known that one of the most important factors that can have an impact on the employee performance of the employees working in the enterprises is the leadership style. The fact that will determine the level of willingness of a leader to coordinate his subordinates, increase their motivation, influence their awareness and achieve a certain goal is the leadership style of the leader. The leader is a vital component of the success or failure of an organization or organization. An effective and strong leadership style is highly decisive in the ability of enterprises to cope with the challenges they face and changing conditions. Paternalistic, open and relationship-oriented leadership styles are generally more favorably perceived by employees than other leadership styles. Considering that both styles are employee-oriented, prioritize communication and adopt a participatory way of overcoming problems, they are seen as an intriguing research topic in corporate governance. This study has been carried out in order to examine the effects of paternalistic, open and relationship-oriented leadership styles on the perception of corporate governance on employees in organizations, to test the hypothesis that have been proposed, and to examine the approaches exhibited in the literature. For this purpose, a survey study has been conducted with the participation of 192 managers from Sivas and Kayseri provinces and the obtained data have been analyzed and interpreted with quantitative analysis methods. As a result of the findings, it has been determined that the demographic characteristics of the individuals working in the enterprises and their attitudes towards leadership styles and as a result of these attitudes, differences on the perceptions of corporate governance.
