Abstract

Peacekeeping operations are one of the most peacefully-visited methods by the international community in the effort to prevent, resolve and transform international conflicts. The main aim of this research is to explore the place of Africa in the United Nations (UN) peacekeeping operations. Africa has an important position in international policy and security studies since it is the geography where the peace mission is implemented in the highest frequency. Thus, the content of this study comprises UN peacekeeping operations, their roles and importance as well as much-involvement of the African continent in those operations. As a qualitative research, this study will mainly use content and document analysis research techniques by benefitting from secondary data sources such as scientific books, essays, UN reports, UN annual reviews as well as some open-sourced news on international media about peacekeeping operations in line with the literature.
